My first Hero Arts Digi card!

I finally jumped on the Digi craze bandwagon and got my first set of Hero Arts Digi prints (Winged Friends). You can get them here at 2 Peas.........and they are so easy to use and resize in a simple Word document.

So Hero Arts is having a weekend challenge to make a card using any of their stamps to celebrate 30,000 entries on their Flickr pool! Wow- 30,000 amazing creations to gaze at.The ladies over there have some serious talent- there is always something for me to be inspired by.

I printed a whole sheet of the butterfly's in assorted sizes (more to have on hand for other cards), and colored them using my Distress inks (Wild Honey) and Copic markers. I love the colors of this whole card......so warm. The Sentiment is from Unity Stamps and I just love how they go together so well.

More bright & cheery cards...

First up is a card where I forced myself to play with some more yummy patterned paper. I kind of have a hard time with patterned paper.........I find it hard to part with (I'd rather just sit and look at it) and if it doesn't coordinated then I'm totally lost.....I'm more of a direct ink to paper kind of gal.

 But this paper is all coordinated thankfully.....and I  really really love it. As you can tell I'm still in that "get winter out of here I want some springtime" kind of mood. The setiment is by Impression Obsession, paper by K&Co.   

Next up is a sketch challenge over at ISC hosted by Robin.

I decided to break in my new Martha Stewart punch and create something bright and hopefully might cheery!

I used my Copic glitter markers on the bee for a bit of shimmer and shine. Hope you can see the details up close. The sun is shining here so maybe all this wishfull thinking is actually working!

Copic Spica Glitter markers Clear & Chocolate

As soon as I saw this paper I was in love with it and could think of nothing other than Spring- and thought why not try making a grid kind of card. I also wanted to add some sparkle and shine to it using my new Copic Spica glitter markers. I know it's very hard to see (my lighting stinks!)  but I added some glittery white/clear to the white dots on the butterfly's wings and did the edges of the brown cardstock in brown glitter marker as well. I also traced around the butterfly's brown edge to try to get them to stand out a bit more. It looks so darn pretty in real life, especially when the sun hits it!

I'm sooooo ready for Spring here.....the winters in Wisconsin are long and cold! Hope this card gets you in the mood for green grass, flowers blooming, birds chirping, and warm sunny days!

3x3 Thank You cards

I just whipped up these super quick and simple thank you cards last night. I recently sold some crafting supplies (ya know- that stuff you will never ever use again) and I thought I would include a small thank you card in the package. I used the cute deer from Stampin Up " Forest Friends" and a Stampin Up sentiment as well. I don't normally make smaller cards like this but it was fun to try something different. I might make some more smaller cards today just for the heck of it in brighter colors!



I thought I would list  the last few stamps sets I was selling on here as well! I also have more crafting stuff I'm weeding out listed here over on SCS!

Finally some Mojo!

I finally got some mojo back and made this quick card playing with some flowersoft that my gal pal Heather sent me a few weeks ago and some new papers I recieved from the super amazing - on fire Carol-ish!  I used Glossy Accents as the glue to hold it down and added some delicious Basic Grey pink pearls to this as well. This layout is one I have used before with this stamp- I guess it's fave of mine.

 I have been uber obsessed with the Olympics since they started so I have not really made much time to craft! Heck- they are only one once every 4 years- and I'm not missing any of it! Crafting can just wait for a while!

 Everything from watching mens snowboarding (Shawn White you are freaking awesome) to womens downhill (Lindsey Vonn you are amazing and fearless) and I can't take my eyes off Anton Apollo Ohno- {wow} !!

I'll be glued to the TV over the weekend and chanting "GO USA"- I can't wait for the upcoming US-Canadian mens hockey game- should be a {keep ya on the edge of your seat game}!

Sweet Treat Baskets tutorial!

This morning I sat down and made these cute little treat baskets for Valentines day! All you need is 1 sheet of 6x6 double sided paper, a hole punch, and some narrow ribbon, and the ability to score your paper with a score board or bone folder- and 5 minutes.  I will be taking these to my sons kindergarten teachers on Friday- I'm going to work at the school book fair for a few hours that day. Don't forget these cute little baskets can be made for any other holiday or occassion simply by changing your papers! So here is my first ever tutorial- ooooh I'm so excited! Go get your supplies and follow along!

I'll show you how to make these right now!

 Start with a 6"x6" piece of patterned paper and score it at 2" & 4" on the first side of your paper- give it a quarter turn and score the other side at 2" & 4" again.

Now we need to score a line from each 4 corners into where your score lines interesect.

I found it was easiest to fold the entire piece of paper corner to corner and then score. Don't worry- no one will see the score lines as they will be on the bottom.

Now we are going to pull up each corner and fold it into a triangular point. At this time you will want to punch a small hole near the tip as this is where you will thread your ribbon through. I used and 1/8" hole punch and 1/8" ribbon.

Feed the ribbon through the 4 points and tie in knot or a pretty bow. I tied a simple knot first, then threaded the ribbon through my tag before tying a bow. And that's it- it's done! Wasn't that super quick and easy!

You can add a small tag or charm and then fill it with the candy of your choice and you are good to go- a sweet treat box for your special loved ones!

Religious Easter Card

Hi there stamping friends! Well I've been busy cleaning up my craft area and going through stuff (weeding out the scraps and things that will never get used) and job hunting- so little time to craft lately. Jessie is hosting this weeks challenge over at ISC and it was to make an Easter card. I purchased this fantastic set of stamps from Verve back at Christmas time and finally inked them up to make this card. I'm not a religious person but I know most of the people I send my cards to appreciate these kinds of cards. I also loved the cross as it can easily be used for a sympathy card as well. I used some more of my new Stampin Up designer papers and folded a large paper flower in half and added the pearl. I paper pieced the cross as well.

Other exciting news- I won 2 blog candies this past week also- I'm so excited as I've never won any blog candy before! I won some beautiful papers, ribbons , and stamps from Carol (you must check out her blog she is amazing), and a whole set of Copic glitter markers from Sally's blog too! Wow- I'm feeling awfully lucky- I think I better run and buy a lottery ticket! So I will have to come up with some blog candy of my own soon- my way of saying thanks to all you generous stampers!

Quick and simple Valentines cards!

Last night and this morning I whipped up some quick Valentines card using some of my new papers and tried out a couple of those cute "buttony bows" that I'm so in love with lately. I just learned how to attach the buttons onto a bow by watching this video on Youtube. The first card here is for a 3 year old girl named Abigail who needs some cheering up- she is in her third full body cast and has a rare hip disease. She loves to recieve cards so if anyone wants to help and send her a card please email me at yamaha6@somtel.net  for her address.

This next one is a just a fun silly kind of card for a specific friend who is into archery. I love this cute little Cupid- the stamp is one of those $1 ones from Michael's. Paper is by Stampin up (Sending love Specialty) and I used my Nestablities die on this one too. I hope she likes it and gets a kick out of it.

Last up is a pretty non-traditional Valentines day card! I got the image and sentiment in a swap a long time ago and just grabbed it and colored it quick using pencils and markers. As you can see I'm also into using some hemp twine all of a sudden as well (I've got all this stuff that needs to get used more often) .Not sure of the stamp manufacturer on this......maybe SU?  The green cardstock is SU (I think certainly celery) and real red. My cardstock is all sorted by colors and I have tons of it from all different manufacturers so I'm not always 100% sure what Co. it is- sorry!

Hero Arts February challenge card

This months contest at the Hero Arts blog is to create a card using flowers or St. Patty's day for the theme. We are also supposed to think bold bright colors- I though "yeah- right up my alley"!! I love bright bold colors with a usual pop of white or black. This layout was inspired by a card I recently recieved from a dear friend (see below in "fun mail" post). I thought pink would be a nice bold color and grabbed my favorite older HA stamps for this. I'm very pleased at the way it turned out! I used my brush markers to color the dill stamp- and then came back over the image with Versmark so I could emboss it and make it pop a bit more. I stamped the long blossom stamp on the scalloped circles and then again on the card base. Wish me luck on the Hero Arts contest-  I keep trying and entering but the talent over there is so incredibly amazing I don't think I stand a chance!

Yummy patterned papers arrived!

I know all of you stampers out there love patterned papers- so feast your eyes on this fantastic pile of papers that came today! I'm not a huge user of PP, I think it's because I really need double sided papers that coordinate together, if stuck with just single sided paper I kind of struggle with that alot. My friend Lisa who is also my Stampin Up demo offered a paper share on her website- so I couldn't resist. I got 36 sheets of double sided PP to play with now! I just love all of it too- such a nice variety for different occassions and seasons. This Valentines and flowery paper will be the paper I play with first- I have to get my rear in gear and get some Valentines made quick!
