Lily Pad Patterned Paper Challenge

Entering 2 cards in the current Lily Pad patterned paper challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

I picked up some yummy Basic Grey paper last week at Archiver's and just got my first ever PaperTreyink stamps a few days ago. I thought I would combine them and some favorite Hero Arts stamps for the challenge at Lily Pad Cards. 




This one combines the Hero Arts newspaper tulip stamp (K5576)  with a sentiment form the "simple sentiments" set from PTI and a bit of Basic Grey paper (Hello Luscious).





This card uses the Hero Arts stamp "Large Flower" ( CG134) and paper from the Basic Grey line "Out of Print". Used a different stamp from the same PTI sentiment set and added a brad to the center of the flower. I am still trying my hand at creating more CAS type cards- hope to gosh I am getting a bit better! Here is a funny story about this card. I had intended to have the "whole" big flower on the card......but as luck has it.... my stamp wasn't "clinging" so well to my acrylic block and happened to fall right on the edge of the paper. Arghhh- hate it when this happens.....but I salvaged it anyways! :)

Cool Blue Christmas

HI everyone! It's a beautiful fall day and I decided to start working on those Christmas cards early. This card was created for the Hero Arts October challenge to make holiday cards.

I have used this sketch before and I love it so much I thought I would try it again. I used a light blue cardstock base, some pearlescent off white cardstock from Marco Paper (this stuff is really thick and nice) , my Martha Stewart snowflake punch and my EK Success border punch here. The sentiment comes from the Hero Arts clear set "Joy to All" and that was clear embossed. The cute papers are Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses and the embossing folder is from Stampin Up. I just had to add some pearls on the big snowflake and along the border punch to go along with the pearly cardstock. I must admit it's kind of hard to make a wintery Christmas card when it's so nice and sunny here and all I see are fall colors outside my window.

Card making weekend for OWH!

Hi ya cardmakers and friends!

This weekend the Hero Arts Flickr pool is having a virual cardmaking party for Operation Write Home. There are many fun and interesting challenges going on and I decided to participate making several cards.

First up here is a sketch card where I used some yummy Basic Grey papers, my new favorite embossing folder by Stampin Up (Square Lattice), and some new clear stamps by Hero Arts called "Joy To All". I pulled out the holly punch to go along with the holly on the Basic Grey paper and added a few silver gems for the berries.
I just love the way this card turned out......and I don't normally say that about my own cards- he he!


I made 4 christmas cards (I had no intention of making so many) and one quick birthday card. And by quick I mean quick- less than 15 minutes to stamp it and photograph it! We were given 1 hour total but I didn't see the post until there was only 15 minutes left. Man- that was very intense and super fun! I've never made a card soooo darn fast in my life :) Ink pads and stamps were flying left and right- panic set in as I had only 15 minutes to get one made! But I made it- yeahhhh :)

I'll post all the other cards here without listing every little detail.....I know this is going to be a long post today. If anyone has any question please just send me an email or Flickr mail. Most all the cards created used Hero Arts stamps and some Basic Grey papers and of course that SU embossing folder.

Here is one last card I made late last night for the 1.5 hour challenge to make a one layer card. I got out my Eclipse masking tape and Hero Arts stamps and got busy with my distress inks. Sorry for the poor quality picture but it was pitch black when I took this photo last night.

Hugs for Heather

I made this card for my dear friend Heather who is having some unpleasant health issues....she has colotis and it's keeping her in the little girls room non stop and even keeping her from working....the poor thing. If anyone wants to send her a cheery card please email me and I'll get you her address. She is the sweetest gal and could really use some cheering up!

I used some of that yummy Basic Grey Koishi paper and my usual favorite Hero Arts stamps. She loves purple so I tried to get a good amount of that in the card.

Today is a dark, gloomy kind of day just meant for staying indoors. It's supposed to be raining but nothing is happening yet.......I'm anxiously awaiting our first real thunderstorm of the season. I'm one of those sick individuals that really likes severe weather......I think it's exciting. So while I'm waiting for the storm to come I'm baking chocolate chip cookies, crafting a bit, and surfing the net just waiting for some good old lightening to start!
